My longtime BFF in Colorado is having her first baby girl!  Her name will be Journey and when I said, “hmmm, what shall I quilt for her?”  She said, “DEER!”  So here we are only a month away from Journey’s arrival and I am just starting.  To be fair, my life has been a bit busy.  Want to see why?

That’s right…We Did!  Click here to see more pictures of our special day.

Now that the dust has settled, I’m back to realizing life exists outside of wedding planning and I better get on it!  This past weekend was pretty fun.  My boys enjoyed their two new laying hens and one wild rooster that our sweet friend Jessica gifted us.  I watched our sick but sweet Carmy and crafted.  As she sipped her water and nibbled on jello, she kindly gave great advice as only a 6-year-old can.   Here’s what we created.  It will be the center of Journey’s quilt.  I can’t wait to snuggle you, you sweet lil love muffin!  I’ll have to make a special trip to Colorado just to do so…and I will!

The birch tree was sewn into the fabric, but all decoration was done by applique.  Now onto the border.  I was recently asked to do a bits and blocks square for a quilting bee and think it will be perfect.  The soon to be Mommy requested the quilt to be done in chocolate browns and sage.  The border is where I will use most of that color.  The back will be in minky: sage.  She will die, I just know it!
