Applique can be tricky, but after a bit of practice you’ll be a pro! Definitely fuse fuse fuse…you’ll have a new best friend, trust me! Here’s my post about the fusing process & what I used: http://tiptoetango.com/2011/07/29/the-big-island/ For this particular project I only fused the outer edges because of the many layers. If I were the fuse the entire island and all the layers, 1. That would be a lot of webbing. 2. The quilt top would have been very stiff. BEAUTIFUL quilt! My son has requested a map quilt, but I don’t have experience in appliqué. Did you use something to fuse the island to the back, as well as the layers on top of the island? Do you have a product you recommend?
