My apologizes for the lengthy blog delay, but I’m finding my Junior year at UHH extremely time consuming. I could rant and rave about all the reading and work involved, but lets skip to the fun part. I’m sincerely happy to have finished the Island Trails quilt. It turned out to be adorable and I hear it brought tears to the expecting momma’s eyes. Expecting Daddy gets A+++ for such a thoughtful gift! This quilt’s journey can be found here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Wow, that’s a lot of here’s {sort of disturbing}!

And that’s a wrap!
Next project, a birthday present for a special lady!

Thank you Jen!
BEAUTIFUL quilt! My son has requested a map quilt, but I don’t have experience in appliqué. Did you use something to fuse the island to the back, as well as the layers on top of the island? Do you have a product you recommend?
Applique can be tricky, but after a bit of practice you’ll be a pro! Definitely fuse fuse fuse…you’ll have a new best friend, trust me! Here’s my post about the fusing process & what I used: http://tiptoetango.com/2011/07/29/the-big-island/ For this particular project I only fused the outer edges because of the many layers. If I were the fuse the entire island and all the layers, 1. That would be a lot of webbing. 2. The quilt top would have been very stiff. Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help…
