It’s taken a few days to wrap my mind around the devastating phone call I received Saturday evening. Jeremy Clarke, Liberty Helicopter Pilot, was killed along with 8 others in a tragic air accident over the Hudson River in New York. Jeremy is Matthew’s closest friend, a brother. Matthew’s sadness was evident on Saturday evening as to be expected. Struggling to understand how such an event could take place. Struggling to accept the loss of such a friend. Hopes and dreams ended that day. Plans made that will never be realized. Jeremy leaves behind a mass of great friends, close nit family & beautiful fiancee. How will she move on?
Matthew arrived in New York yesterday to give strength and support to Danielle, Jeremy’s fiancee, and family. Danielle spun Matthew around in his hotel lobby and their embrace spoke of the pain they both shared. Matthew plans on taking the trip to New Zealand where Jeremy’s body will be put to rest. I admire Matthew’s loyalty, strength & unwavering commitment to Jeremy. Someone like Jeremy would deserve a friend such as Matthew. A family such as the Clarke’s. A fiancee such as Danielle. To love him forever even in death.
My heart goes out to the many who are suffering over the August 8, 2009 horrific tragedy.
Jeremy you are greatly missed and will never be forgotten.
